Here at LDHC, we not only like to celebrate local produce but also local talent. We try and make every part of our business authentically Cumbrian, from website design to product photos.

A photographer we have been working with recently is Sophie Beth Photography. She’s based around 3 miles from LDHC HQ which is not only convenient but supports our central ethos.

We recently caught up with Sophie to shed a bit of light on her love of photography, as well as her first few years in business.

“I’ve always had an interest in photography and I studied it at university in Liverpool graduating with a first class degree in 2021.

Over the last couple of years I’ve set up as a freelance photographer which I wasn’t expecting to do so soon after finishing Uni, it’s been a dream come true for me! Whilst a lot of my work is product based, I also work in other areas of the industry such as in schools and for properties.

I like to say I’m a photographer of Products, People and Places!

People – A lot of my work is made up of taking school photos in the spring and autumn term but outside of this time I do graduation photography and children’s sessions.

Places- I’ve done landscape photography for years and whilst my photos are available to buy, I often don’t advertise this as landscape photography is something I do for myself and my own enjoyment. I also work as a property photographer taking photos of all the lovely holiday cottages around the Lake District.

Products – My favourite kind of work to do, I especially love working with brands where their products are ‘Made in the Lakes or Cumbria’ as I like taking them out on location and photographing them in the locations that inspired them to create some truly unique images.

My work takes me all over Cumbria and sometimes beyond, I’m always willing to travel!

I’d describe my work as natural, modern and clean. Whether it be of people or products, I like to keep my set ups quite minimal with only ever a few props or colours so that the focus stays on the subject. Whilst I’m a perfectionist and a bit of a control freak when it comes to setting up my images, I love working out on location. It always brings its challenges but the end result is so rewarding and clients often tell me how much they love the creativity of images I’ve taken of products on location.

I’m an organised, laid back, friendly person so working with me is always a stress free experience. I provide a fast turnaround time for receiving your images so there’s not long to wait as I know how exciting this can be.”
