Supplier in the Spotlight – Cumbrian Tea

Here at The Lake District Hamper Company, we’re always looking for ways to showcase the great range of products that fill our luxury hampers.

To that end, one feature of our regular blog posts will be to highlight a company that we work with and how they look to showcase the Lake District and Cumbria – Supplier in the Spotlight.

Our first supplier, and one of the first to offer some much-needed support and advice throughout the early stages of our venture, is The Cumbrian Tea and Cumbrian Coffee Co Ltd and their flagship product – Ramblers’ Brew.

Hailing from Dearham, Cumbria, on the outskirts of the Lakes, Ramblers’ Brew is the brainchild of Mark Cant, local resident and Cumbrian born & bred.

Mark’s story begins with a sentimental tea pot, passed down to him by his grandfather. Mark’s Grandfather won this particular tea pot racing pigeons as a boy and held onto it in the hope that someday the tea pot would be worth something. Mark always believed that this tea pot was a sign and used this to develop a passion for a tea product that had its roots in Mark’s home – Cumbria.

Today, Mark and his business partner Duncan have developed a sustainable, ethically sourced and environmentally friendly product. One which, most importantly, tastes fantastic!

Cumbrian Tea is stocked all over the county in a wide range of establishments, as well as further afield in places such as Ipswich & Marlborough. Rest assured if you’re in the Lakes though, there’s plenty of places to find it.

Mark’s determination to impact the residents of the local area goes far beyond just their palates. The Company’s commitment to sustainability & charitable work is hugely admirable. They work with a number of local charities and initiatives such as through the Cumbria Community Foundation and the Ewanrigg Local Trust, with a focus on providing mental health services to residents in the Ewanrigg area of Cumbria.

Ramblers’ Brew made a fantastic addition to our Ramblers’ Hamper. We aimed to develop a hamper that would suit as a gift for the fell walker, incorporating the essentials for a journey up a Lake District fell. What journey wouldn’t be complete without a flask of tea for those pit stops and with Ramblers’ Brew, we’ve found the perfect addition.
